JSU Football Still Beaming After Thriller


JSU fans, players & coaches are still sky high after the Gamecocks' stunning comeback victory over then-fourth ranked Eastern Washington. The team erased a 21-point deficit to win 49-45 at Burgess-Snow Field. JSU trailed 28-7 in the first quarter and 45-28 at the end of the third quarter - making the rally even more impressive.

JSU is riding a 30-game winning streak in regular season home games as they get set to host UNA Saturday, Sept. 21 in Jacksonville.

The Gamecocks moved back into the top ten of the STATS FCS poll & 13th in the AFCA Coaches Poll.

QB Zerrick Cooper was named the OVC Offensive Player of the Week after posting 337 total yards (249 passing & 88 rushing) and five touchdowns. Meanwhile, senior DB Marlon Bridges was named the STATS FCS National Defensive Player of the Week. Bridges recorded nine tackles, including a sack and three tackles for a loss of 16 yards, forced a fumble and returned an interception for a touchdown in the victory.

This week's game against the UNA Lions is set for 6:00 p.m. at Burgess-Snow Field.
