Thursday, September 19, 2019

The Cherokee County School Board is continuing to tackle the topic of school safety. WEIS Radio reports that the school board went into a brief executive session Tuesday to discuss possible ways to improve security. According to WEIS, board members talked about school resource officers as well as other ways to step up safety at each school in the district.

Last week, board members met with County Commission Chairman Tim Burgess about a plan to implement a new school resource officer program. They talked about the division of the cost among the school system, the county commission, and the sheriff’s office. The board hopes to approve the plan by October 1.
