Friday, September 20, 2019

Nine men are facing charges of second-degree rape in connection to a series of suspected statutory rapes on and near the campus of Jacksonville State University. The Associated Press reports that the men, whose names were not released, range from 18 to 22 years in age.

They are from Anniston, Jacksonville, Centre, and Guntersville. According to the Commander of the  Seventh Judicial Major Crimes Task Force, Jacksonville Police asked them to help investigate one complaint, but investigators became aware of other possible incidents. The alleged crimes took place in parking areas and halls located around the campus earlier this year, and the reports were made public on September 11.
