Etowah County Correction Officers Receive Raises

The Sheriff’s Office has 179 employees who will all be receiving a 2.5 perfect “one step raise” along with every county employee that will take effect October first of this year. Out of the 179 employees at the sheriff’s office, 97 of those are correction officers and Sheriff Horton is proud to announce that those officers will receive an additional raise.

The starting pay for correctional officers will also be raised by two steps, meaning the hiring rate coming into the job will now start at $12.60 per hour. Correctional officers will also receive body scanners to deter contraband in jail and reduce stress on correctional officers during booking operations.
