Etowah County is Adding More Resources Officers to Schools
The Etowah County Sheriff held a press conference earlier today to inform the community about positive changes that will be made in order to have a safer community. Sheriff Jonathon Horton is proud to announce that three more school resource officers will be added to the county.
While there are 23 schools in the county, there are currently only 16 SRO’s that cover all campuses. By adding three more SRO’s, Sheriff Horton says this will help eliminate a long commute time for officers if they are needed at another school and every campus will be protected during school hours.
Sheriff Horton says SRO’s are important because their job is more than just enforcing the law on school grounds.
