Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes as the Alabama Department of Transportation will upgrade two more traffic lights along Highway 431 next month in Calhoun County. Beginning October 1st, the signals at Gate 5 Road and Alabama 144 are scheduled to be upgraded.
The function of signals will be improved as well as a new look that includes a ‘Flashing Yellow Arrow” display that will feature four arrows. Studies show that flashing yellow arrows have reduced left turn accidents by nearly 25%. The upgrades are expected to take three weeks to complete. Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes during that time.
