The Centre City Council held a discussion regarding the possibility of adding an additional one cent sales tax to bring in four school resource officers. That’s according to WEIS Radio. The SRO’s would patrol the schools located within the city limits. Money from the tax increase would also go towards a new city pool in addition to the completion of the armory building project.
Centre Mayor Tony Wilkie says the first step would consist of the council approving the one cent sales tax before making a decision regarding the school resource officers. The next city council meeting is scheduled for October 8th.
