RMC Foundation Assisting with Awareness of Breast Cancer Prevention and Affordable Mammograms

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a local foundation is promoting self-awareness, prevention, and affordable mammograms. While volunteers with the RMC Foundation handed out breakfast meals and information packets to residents within the community during this year’s Brake for Breakfast event, they were also informing people about this month’s special on 3D Mammograms. Which is used to look for breast cancer in people who show no signs or symptoms.

RMC’s foundation director believes that both men and women should take advantage of this imaging test. Those wanting to register for a mammogram can do so at RMC’s Tyler Center in Anniston or at the Mediplex in Oxford.

Janice Hartley was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in December and has been fighting ever since. Despite the numerous rounds of continuous Chemotherapy treatments, Hartley still wants to spread awareness to this disease that is treatable, if detected early on.

The RMC Foundation also wants to invite everyone out to South Beach Volleyball at McClellan Tuesday evening for a night of philanthropy and pints beginning at 6 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the RMC Foundation in its mission to nurture excellence in healthcare within the community.
