Anniston Fire Department Creates Mask Disinfection Device
First responders have been reusing personal protective equipment to limit the fear of a shortage during the COVID-19 pandemic. This has caused frontline workers to get face burns in addition to not being able to wear clean protective gear. Anniston Fire Department’s Sergeant Cantrell and Sergeant Linton, have converted an air filtration machine into a disinfecting device for masks. It utilizes the ultraviolet lamps inside the device for disinfection. This device can also slow down PPE burn rates. Sergeant Linton says the device will only be used by firefighters with the Anniston Fire Department if supplies ever begins to run low.
