Jacksonville State University Announces New Film Degree Program
Those who want to be filmmakers can now earn a degree at Jacksonville State University starting this fall. A new Bachelor of Arts in Film has been established that requires 120 credit hours and 31 hours of film courses. The program offers courses such as playwriting, editing, cinematography, and photography; all hands on courses to give students the experience they need to thrive in Atlanta and Hollywood’s film industry.
JSU now owns Longleaf Studios, the 18,000 square foot warehouse near its campus. Inside is Alabama’s largest green screen and will soon be remodeled to include classrooms, a screening room and soundstage. This will give students the opportunity to recreate film sets and make student films.
